Evolute, the current range of furniture, is Todd Stevenson’s homage to the Rococo in laser-cut steel. Combined with hand-finished lines and sumptuous upholstery, each piece makes a statement.

As an 18 year old welder, Todd had the fortune to be discovered by designer Tim Ord. In the ‘80s, in the old Stable Lane in Symonds St was a hotbed of creatives working in the converted stables.

Todd refined his blend of design, artistry and manufacturing in this environment, before establishing his own studio –

Powersurge – in 1994. Since then Todd has been involved with the fitouts of some of New Zealand’s most iconic
entertainment destinations, as well as designing and manufacturing a variety of distinctive products.

Stevenston states that “It’s true that there is a lot of muscle and sweat involved in working with steel. But I really enjoy surprising people with the lyricism and dynamism you can create, and pushing the material to its physical and artistic limits.”
