The Isobar pod is made from hand blown glass that is then cut and etched. The objects are either in divine soft or clashing colours that form soft organic shapes.

Dominic Burrell graduated in 2002 with a certificate in Glass Design and Production from Wanganui UCOL.
He has exhibited widely in both in New Zealand and Internationally and has been the recipient of many awards including winning the New Zealand Glass conference in 2008.
Burrell’s work pushes the boundaries of traditional blown glass in both form and technique. His pieces are sculptural, using opaque layers to create spatial depth.
Each piece is hand blown, using coloured overlays, and then cut with a Diamond wheel, his favourite tool.
He slices through the forms, revealing a cross section of different colours. In some works the forms are stacked and fused to form towers.
While he is inspired by formal design principles such as line, plane and colour in his design process, the landscape is another, stating “New Zealand for me is a place of obvious inspiration – what I
really love is anything to do with metrology and the quirks with our climate – the Westerlies in Spring, sub tropical Northland and continental central Otago.”
