A New Pew

The Yoo Boo Pew functions as a highly useful, multi-purpose furniture item and the slot-together form uses no screws or glue. The retro influenced patterns are based on native NZ plant life and are printed using solvent free, non-toxic inks. The Pew is protected and finished with a natural oil and wax. It comes flat-packed for shipping and is quick and easy to assemble. Currently there are 3 patterns – Manuka, Pohutukawa and Kowhai, and also a plain unprinted version.

The YooBoo Pew was developed as a result of this husband and wife partnership wanting to collaborate and create something designed and made here in NZ which was practical, beautiful and made to last using quality, sustainable materials.  They have a real appreciation of plywood and when they found bamboo they were thrilled with its qualities - the beauty of the grain, durability and the fact that it is sustainably harvested, FSC certified and is an earth friendly renewable resource.

The designers Aly Bennett and Harm Zuidmeer live in the beautiful lakes district of Rotorua in the Bay of Plenty, with their family. Aly and Harm say; “We’re very much influenced by the natural setting we are so fortunate to live and play within. We care deeply about the environment and try to tread lightly on this amazing planet earth. The native plant and bird life that inspires our creativity will be seen and heard less if we humans don’t co-exist in harmony”.
