Design Days at the Cloud

Recently Essenze was given the opportunity to put on an exhibition in the Cloud at Queens Wharf,  Auckland to showcase the best that New Zealand Design and Craft has to offer.

A curated range of products were on display, grouped in themes that help to explain what makes New Zealand Design great.

From the Seed System by David Trubridge, to the culturally inspired Art and Design by Shane Hansen, and everything in between; the exhibition brought together various examples of art, design, and craft and showcased the talents of our diverse range of artisans and designers.

As well as the product displays, there were also two events held. On the Monday, author and design historian Michael Smythe gave a presentation titled "Toki to Yike: Icons of New Zealands manufactured culture", where he examined the notable examples of design innovation through our countries short history.

On the Tuesday afternoon, there was a design panel discussion hosted by Mike Hosking between David Trubridge, Peter Bromhead, and Michael Pervin (of Altitude Aerospace) discussed the virtues of New Zealand Design and how it competes on the world stage. With big personalities and thoughtful insights, it certainly was an entertaining discussion.

With thanks to Stuart Hill for shooting and preparing this video.
