seed system by david trubridge

The new Seed range of lights by David Trubridge were launched at essenze as part of Urbis Design Day. The new range of 'seed system' kitset lights significantly reduce freighting which,  David says, "is one of the ways that of doing what we can to preserve our beautiful sea and land environments."

The Grow range features a new design, "Hinaki", along with re-designs of classics such as Kina, Koura and Flax.

David Trubridge says of the design, "Fish traps are called hinaki by Maori, though often the name is used more specifically for an eel trap. They were made from woven vines, some in amazingly beautiful forms. The first light I ever made in 1995 was called Hiaki. It was also shaped like this."
