It is well known that New Zealand's film industry has shown New Zealand to the world. What is less well known is that many of the fabrics used for costumes and cloaks are the work of one designer, Miranda Brown. Miranda's work as a fabric designer extends to far more than just film work. She designs and manufactures a range of homewares and accessories that evoke the colours of the New Zealand landscape. Working with natural fibre, usually New Zealand wool, hand dyeing, and often using the shibori dyeing method, Miranda creates subtly-patterned rugs and throws. The textures and colours of her creations cradle and comfort. |
