Based in Nelson, New Zealand, Rose Griffin's contemporary earthenware for table or wall is characterised by their graphic black and white and coloured patterning.
The surface design of these plates is achieved by laminating contrasting coloured clays into the white earthenware slab. This process brings an exciting unpredicatability to each piece meaning that no two can ever be the same. The shapes and design are influences from the 1950's, while the casual pencil-like and soft imprints of other pieces draws on more expressive influences. |
