Jenny Smith takes patterns and texture from the New Zealand landscape, notably the wild and rugged west coast and the magnificent Southern Alps, and translates these into glass - creating abstract works that convey a sense of timeless strength.

In her series 'Silk Road: Patterns of Time', textures, folds and colours of silk are interpreted in the glass, conveying the timeless nature of these ever-recurring patterns and the sense of the inevitability they evoke.
